Lenovo Yoga S730 Review

The Lenovo Yoga S730 (see the lowest price) is a very light and well-built laptop. It does stand out from its competitors. If you’re looking for a premium Ultrabook, this should definitively be in your list.

Benefits

This laptop is fitted with 8 GB of RAM, 256 GB of SSD storage and a quad-core Intel Core i5 processor. At just 1.08 kg, this is one of the lightest laptops we’ve reviewed so far. To compare how light it is, the Dell XPS 13 and MacBook Air both have about 140g more. There’s one laptop that’s lighter than this one, and that’s LG Gram 14(981g).

This machine boots up quite fast. It takes just nine seconds from off to on. It’s a fast laptop that can handle photo editing, open ad-heavy webpages without problems and even work some HD video editing. Its fans might be a little noisier than other laptops, but that’s only when it’s working hard.

Not only the touchpad and the keyboard are comfortable and reliable, but even opening the lid is a pleasure with this laptop. The keyboard is perfect for long term use and is accurate in fast typing, and the touchpad is accurate and reliable. The majority of notebooks lift off the desk when you try to open the lid with one hand but not this one.

The screen displays rich and vibrant colours and also crisp and clear text. Cheaper, lower-quality laptop screens can’t compete with this laptop’s screen in which the photos displayed should look closer to reality. On the speaker side, the dialogue is nice and clear, and while they’re better than average, when you turn up the volume the sound is a bit harsh.

The battery life is between eight and 11 hours. The lowest is for browsing and the highest for video playback. With these numbers on the battery life, you should be able to work away from the socket without worries.

Downsides

There are only three USB-C ports on this laptop and that’s because Lenovo made this model only 13mm thick. There was not enough room to squeeze more in. You also don’t get any adaptor with this laptop so in case you want to connect a monitor or something else you’ll have to pay for a dock or an adaptor.

Verdict

You should buy it. It’s one of the best we’ve reviewed in 2019 and it delivers great value for the price. Don’t look any further if you want a laptop that’s portable and powerful.
